LIONS VICTORIOUS IN STATE OPENER: The jserra.girlsvb team got off to a strong start in the CIF Division 1 State Championships with a three set first round victory over Edison 25-17, 25-13, 25-22 Tuesday evening at JSerra High.

The Lions (31-10) have now won 14 of their last 15 matches overall.

JSerra will visit Palos Verdes on Thursday in the second round.
