Join us for this FREE lecture by Dr. Sarah Eckhardt, associate curator of modern and contemporary art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, and co-organizer of the exhibition Benjamin Wigfall & Communications Village, now on view at the Torggler. Eckhardt will focus on Wigfall’s background in his hometown of Richmond; his years as a student and professor at Hampton Institute (now Hampton University); and his subsequent founding of Communications Village in Kingston, New York. Join us to learn more about Wigfall, his artistic circle, and his inspiring approach to community art education.
