## Caption

ericsenseman and ultrarunning have been synonymous storylines for 12 years. For 6 of those years, he's brought us along for some of the most epic chases — and memorable finishes — in the history of the sport. Through his running, Eric has shown our community what happens when you invest hard work, determination, and belief into a dream: you succeed, and you fail. Ultimately, you also learn and grow in the process.

Through competitive running, Eric has undoubtably grown. Whether he was training for months or chasing a golden ticket, he gave every ounce of effort to discovering success and his ultimate potential as an athlete. Observing his success, its easy to see the desire and pure intention he gave wherever he lined up. He compares it to superposition.

"At the highest level of competition, or even to just get the most out of yourself–wherever that puts you in a competition–there is simply no place for contentment.

"And yet I find myself content. It’s as though I’ve been materially changed."

Last week, Eric announced he would be retiring from racing ultramarathons. We are so thankful for all of the lessons Eric has taught us along the way, and are beyond proud of everything he's accomplished. In his final blog as a #rabbitPRO, he reflects on his decision, what it takes to be a competitive athlete, and how measuring the successes and failures of his career led to contentment and a celebration of his accomplishments.
