HYROX CHICAGO PRO SOLO⚡️

1:04:19 - 1st u24 / 10th overall 🥇

The Navy Pier is one of those race venues that has its own vibe. The atmosphere is astonishing and I've been looking forward to coming back here since February.

I thought my initial time goal of 66-67 was ambitious. I knew I'd have to put together a near perfect performance to hit that target. Not once did I invision an outcome quite like this. I PR'd by 4:53 and ran a 64 low.

Racing at night is unfamiliar to me. I've only done that once prior for Men's Relay. The whole day leading up to tip off was pretty nerve wrecking but I had a plan that would allow me to execute come 5:50pm. During my warm up I started to really lock in. I was talking in the energy of the Navy Pier and going through my usual pre-race routine. I felt good. The nerves started to settle as I entered the start tunnel. Go time.

From the very beginning, I felt in control of every single aspect of my race physically & mentally. I was in the flow state. My mind was empty, in a good way. I couldn't hear the noise or chaos around me. My legs were turning over effortlessly. This was one of those races that everything was just firing on all cylinders from the jump.

I knew that I was going to PR after making it through the sleds. My sled pull finally clicked! I got out of the sleds and still felt strong and confident. Uncharted territory. The back half of the race is stronger suited for me. Time to swing the hammer. I looked down at my watch for the first time heading in to BBJ to see 28:00, I was on pace for a big PR if I could hang on.

I held on to win the u24 division but, more importantly to me, finished 10th overall. That was a shot I called. I wanted to crack the top 10. I believe that this was the most complete race I've put together. I needed this boost of confidence and reassurance. This year has been grueling. I'm stoked about these results and know there's more to come.

Thank you to everyone for the love & support over the weekend. They say "the race is the reward" and this one damn sure felt like it. Chi-town, I'll be back soon!
