Two Old Men and Dog: No Swimming

Painted in 1956

Norman Rockwell was commissioned to illustrate the Brown & Bigelow Four Seasons calendars from 1948 through 1964. Each year, the #calendar had one central #theme for which four separate #illustrations were made, one for each season. Rockwell's 1950 series told the story of two men and their #loyaldog . The group of three is pictured  as illustrated in the present work, swimming in summer.

Two Old Men and Dog: No Swimming is quintessential examples of Rockwell’s work for Brown & Bigelow. The artist painted both works during the 1950s, the decade which witnessed the pinnacle of the artist’s #creative and technical abilities.
