Meet James Blauvelt👋, founder of the JDJFoundation, an NY-based volunteer network for young urban professionals passionate about giving back to the community. The nonprofit organization leads fundraising campaigns to support cancer research, pediatric wheelchairs, volunteerism, and scholarship.
 
The late Joseph and Donna Marie Blauvelt had a vision for the JDJ Charitable Foundation years ago. After both passed away from long fights with cancer, James and his wife, Allyson, started hosting fundraising and volunteer events in their name.
 
The JDJ Charitable Foundation provides support to the #RisingNYRR Wheelchair Training Program to help youth with physical disabilities realize their goals.
 
“We donated a push racer to [a child] who then introduced us to her coaches and the rest of the team. Her father continues to be a great resource introducing us to the wheelchair community,” James said.
 
He got the chance to cheer on racers, pictured above at a #RisingNYRR Fall Jamboree Presented by TCS. 🥳
 
“It was amazing to witness the different equipment in use and how unique each chair was,” he said.
 
The #RisingNYRR Wheelchair Training Program helps athletes, coaches, teachers, and parents learn the components of the racing chair and how to get the most out of the child’s push.
 
“It taught me how life changing these adaptive chairs can be as it gives them the opportunity to compete,” James said.
 
James pursued his own racing goals at this year’s #TCSNYCMarathon. As we head into #SeasonofThanks, let’s congratulate him on his accomplishment and thank him for the support JDJ Foundation has given to #RisingNYRR. 💙🧡👏
