Na certidão de nascimento, a naturalidade é nova-iorquina, mas poderia muito bem ser soteropolitana, fruto do resgate ancestral promovido por Blocos Afro e Afoxés e até mesmo carioca, engendrada a partir dos envolventes bailes funk.

Nos dias 18 e 19 de Novembro, Salvador recebe a terceira edição do AFROPUNK, maior festival de cultura negra do mundo. O festival funciona como uma celebração de diferentes gêneros e gerações da música negra mundial. Artistas como Iza, Victoria Monét, Alcione conv. Mangueira, Djonga, Vandal, BaianaSystem conv. Noite Dia e Patche Di Rima, Majur.

We came out of a cycle. Innumerable circles. Samba circles, capoeira circles, xirês, giras. Our birth certificate says we were born in New York, but we could just as easily have been born in Salvador, as a result of the ancestral revival promoted by the Afro Carnival Blocks and Afoxés. Or even in Rio, as a result of the captivating Bailes Funk.

The third edition of AFROPUNK, the largest festival of black culture in the world, will be held in Salvador on 18 and 19 November. The Festival is dedicated to celebrating different genres and generations of black music from around the world. Artists such as Iza, Victoria Monét, Alcione conv. Mangueira, Djonga, Vandal, BaianaSystem conv. Noite Dia and Patche Di Rima, Majur.
