Planning a menu that has components that are served at various temperatures helps you as a host balance your time. A cold salad, a hot soup [that can stay on simmer], a room temperature roasted veggie, a piping hot fish or braised meat & a frozen dessert.
2. Know your cooking ability. Listen, Beloved. If you’re normally in charge of buttering the rolls or bringing the cups to the BBQ, jumping into a 5 course tasting menu isn’t quite your skill level yet. Instead, pick a recipe or two your really comfortable with & then expand on new recipes/flavors with other items. Stay in your lane. This is also the time to try new macaroni & cheese recipe…not on Thanksgiving.
