Here’s how we dismount!
If you know me, you know Teddy and I talk everything through! Before we even start the process, I tell him exactly what is going to happen.
-Make sure you pop out the stand on the back of the carrier.
-I sit in the back of my SUV and make sure I don’t bump Teddy’s head. Part of what I tell him in advance is to let mama know if he feels like his head is ever too close to bumping the car.
-Loosen hip and chest straps
-Get my body out while still holding onto pack- NEVER let go
-Use two hands to lower pack to the ground
-Unclip and let that little one out. Their feet will probably get stuck… just laugh it off!
For reference, my son is 3 and experienced with hiking in the carrier and the entire post-hike process. When he was younger before he could be chill sitting in the back of the car for a sec he would go straight into his car seat.
We’ve been hiking together since Teddy was 10 weeks old. If you have any questions, I am the mama to ask!
