More than 50 years after she said goodbye, Sandra Hicks Weeden is reunited with her child. 🥹
In 1970, 17-year-old Hicks (now Hicks Weeden) got pregnant and made the difficult decision to give her baby up for adoption. Since that moment, she's never forgotten her firstborn.
Her granddaughter, who she didn’t know existed, discovered her on
ancestry.com while doing some research on her background and brought the news to her mother, Heidi Lynn Wallace.
The pair finally met over Christmas weekend in Mesa, AZ–a meeting both had been waiting for for 53 years. They connected quickly over their love of music and have even decided to work on their own version of “This Christmas” for next year.
“I don’t have a new chapter, I’ve got a whole new book now,” Wallace said. “This is the ultimate Christmas gift.” 🥰
