The Endangered Species Act is one of the strongest laws for saving species ever enacted by any nation and today it turns 50 years old. 🎂 🎉 Over the past 50 years, the Act has prevented the extinction of roughly 300 species — more than 99% of the species under its care have been saved or are on the road to recovery. The Act is the reason there are #baldeagles on the wing from coast to coast, #grizzlybears roaming the Rocky Mountains, #seaturtles swimming in the ocean, American #alligators sunning in the Southeast, whooping cranes flying across the Great Plains, and black-footed ferrets playing in the intermountain prairies. This work is far from over, but the #EndangeredSpeciesAct still shows the best path forward for saving life on Earth for the next 50 years and beyond. 🌎 ✨
