Although the starter’s outings were cut short by a prolonged rain delay, shoheiohtani demonstrated why he’s the most dynamic player in baseball on a wet and cold Patriots’ Day at Fenway. He no-hit the Sox thru 2IP with 3ks, then went 2-5 in the box DH’ing. Aside from the bleacher creatures’ rain delay shenanigans (see prior post), my most vivid memory was Ohtani refusing to leave the mound during the flash flooding. The skies opened up suddenly causing the fans to rush for cover (myself included), yet Ohtani stayed on the mound and kept warming up until the grounds crew took over. The park was buzzing all weekend long. I’m thinking he’d make a nice addition to the Sox this offseason. 🙏 Still, the redsox took 3 of 4 from the angels.
