In #India, elephants carrying health workers and life-saving vaccines make their way across a river to reach children living in remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Delivering vaccines on elephants, rowboats and drones is part of a @‌WHO-supported initiative to ensure routine immunization can take place in the Changlang district bordering #Myanmar. “Elephants are particularly useful for planning for routine immunization sessions and health outreach drives to remote during the monsoon months, when the river overflows and the roads get waterlogged,” says Dr Jongsam Handsome, medical officer in-charge. #VaccinesWork, are safe and help protect millions of children from dangerous, yet preventable illnesses. 📸: WHO/Sanchita Sharma
