For a thicker brow I like to saturate the hair in the gel brushing straight up. I then use a little micellar water on a Q-tip to clean up any excess product and shape the brow. For a standard thick brow, I first brush through my brows to get an even coat of gel on each hair. I then brush the hair down and use tweezers to bring all the hair to the middle.
