There’s something about this age.
I teach ages 6-18 and when asked what my favorite age to teach is, I never really had an answer.
I thought it was the high school girls- the ones that get my sarcasm and the ones I can get completely real with, but after watching yesterday’s game something clicked.
The 10u girls are at a stage they can really play the game and young enough to still dream their biggest dreams without crippling fear or doubt or self-judgment.
Those girls on the field- 9, 10, 11 year olds- that age is the perfect range that continues to teach me things about life.
The game was like watching a college game of rivals- moving runners over with bunts, routine defense, clutch hits, solid pitching. They performed because they kept it simple.
Just like it should be before life tells them to be afraid of what might happen.
It’s before the age where they start worrying if they look silly or they need to be afraid of being “too athletic” or they care if what they want is real...
