After jen_schro’s first Retreat, there were people that asked if I’d do one for defense. When I looked around, I was proud of my friend who had brought her mission and vision to life: to give credit to a position no one had since paid attention to; to spoil her girls. It was awesome. . But I knew that if I ever threw an event for defenders that mine wouldn’t be the same. I didn’t feel like it would match me. I didn’t think my girls needed to be spoiled...I thought they’d want the secrets. I thought they’d want reps. I thought they’d want time to be around some of the best athletes and teammates this game has to offer. . While defense is often taken for granted, many players and coaches do have WAY more resources and ways to practice than softball catchers do- so I made GROUND•WORK to fill a different need: I created this for those infielders and outfielders to train & prepare their foundation: how they rest and recover, how they fuel and heal, how they move and harness strength. .
