Photo by Pete McBride pedromcbride / When I started out as a photographer, I lived here, in this one-stove, canvas-covered lodgepole teepee at 12,200 feet (3,700m) in the Gore Range of the Colorado Rockies. It was often cold, but life was simple and dictated by light and weather. I frequently practiced doing long exposures with slide film, which required six-hour exposures to get enough light—as seen in this image. For more from the American West, follow pedromcbride.
