Mexico is one of thousands of engravings on a basalt flow in the Tularosa Basin. Jornada Mogollon culture flourished here about 2,000 years ago. We know much about that society’s material culture. We know what they ate, how they made tools, what they traded. On this ancient basalt flow they told us some of what they thought. There are over 21,000 individual works in this archeological preserve. This engraved panther with a rattlesnake tail is among the most dramatic. I founded the nonprofit ancientartarchive to share and humanity's oldest stories. Follow me, salvarezphoto and ancientartarchvie for more.
