Photo by Prasenjeet Yadav prasen.yadav / This one-year-old male snow leopard was chased by feral dogs and got separated from his mother in India's Himachal Pradesh. He took refuge in a defense camp, where he was trapped in a makeshift cage until the forest officials arrived at the location. Domestic dog populations have increased in the Himalaya with the presence of humans, and many of them have now become feral. Feral dogs are a direct threat to wild herbivores and direct competition for carnivores such as the snow leopard. After rescuing the cub, vets tended to his wounds and tried their best to save him, but unfortunately, the animal died two days later. Follow me prasen.yadav for more photos from India.
