Photo by Prasenjeet Yadav prasen.yadav / Forest officials from India's Himachal Pradesh state tend to an injured snow leopard cub. The one-year-old male had been chased by feral dogs and got separated from his mother. Domestic dog populations have increased in the Himalaya with the presence of humans, and many of them have now become feral. Feral dogs are a direct threat to the wild herbivores and direct competition for carnivores such as the snow leopard. After this snow leopard got chased, he took refuge in one of the defense camps in the mountains and was later rescued. Vets tended to the cub's wounds and tried their best to save it, but unfortunately, the animal died two days later. Follow me prasen.yadav for more photos from India.
