The Golden Bead Material is used in our 3-6 yr old class as well as our 6-9 year old class. It allows the child to gain a true understanding of the quantity of a number. The child is able to use their tactile sense and muscle memory to "feel" the difference between a 100 square and a 1000 cube. After becoming familiar with the material and "building" numbers, the children can explore the concept of four digit addition.
