"‘Have you accepted Jesus as your savior, Jennifer?’ a friend asked me one Sunday evening as we sat outside at the weekly youth meeting. ‘Well, I’ve always gone to church,’ I replied. He softly spoke words that pierced my young heart. ‘That doesn’t count.’ My friend encouraged me that going to church was a wonderful thing but I still had a decision to make and a confession to offer. Was Jesus going to be my savior?
That night through prayer, I called out to Jesus for the first time asking Him into my life. I wanted Jesus to lead, guide and direct my path.
My decisions began to be on purpose. I didn’t go to church because my friends did. I went to church for the purpose of worshiping and strengthening the roots of my faith. I didn’t serve others because it was the nice thing to do. I serve because Jesus served.
