When
#NCStateCALS student AlexMBurd started her
#internship with the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service this past
#spring, she struggled to feel
#confident engaging with the highly successful people she was meeting or corresponding with – many of whom had dozens of years of experience in their respective industries.
.
So she pushed herself outside of her comfort zone: she introduced herself to industry leaders, initiated conversations with project stakeholders and reassured herself that she was qualified to do that job and do it well. .
Growing up and throughout her
#undergrad career, she learned to appreciate the inquisitive nature of the
#lifesciences and sought to understand how life science technologies develop from the
#lab bench to
#market space.
.
Her diverse experience now includes technical skills through her
#microbiology major,
#business acumen through her master's program in microbial
#biotechnology and applied business development projects through her internship....
