#NCStateCALS Professor Craig Yencho has two goals: to use #sweetpotatoes to increase economic opportunities in #Africa and get those nutrients into the bellies of children and pregnant women whose #vitaminA deficiencies put them in danger of going #blind. Orange-fleshed sweet potatoes could hold the answer, but first, Yencho must figure out how to stop a #pest known as #weevils, which destroy more than 70% of the #crop in most years.
