Day 1 Recap: ⠀ Men’s 10,000m: Lopez Lomong, Ladies and Gentlemen. My god! Sweet Mercy!! Jumpin’ Jehoshaphat!!! ⠀ He defended his title. He closed in 55. He casually dropped a 62 mid-race. He took his personal best from 28:21 to 27:30!!! He was imperious, magnificent, brilliant... whatever synonyms for “The Man” you’ve got up your sleeve, he was that. We can’t wait to see what he has in store the rest of the season, but it’s already been a pleasure to see him redouble his efforts and return to the incredible form he showed earlier in his career! ⠀ Women’s 10,000m: Five women broke away from the pack at around the 2/3rds mark of the race and Marielle was amongst them. She faded in the final kilometer and ended up 5th.
