As an anticipated 100 million people around the world watch tonight’s #SuperBowl — and debate the most impressive plays and commercials, our School of Communications students will be collecting data and studying it throughout the coming days and weeks to better understand the changing market. The cost of a 30-second spot costs around $5 million this year, which is inspiring some major, multi-billion-dollar corporations to focus more heavily on social reach — which makes this the perfect opportunity to study trends, successes and fumbles. Students, faculty and staff will be using #QUperBowl across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to analyze the engagement the hashtag solicits — and track trends in real time using industry-leading software.
