"Two of the root causes of immigration from Central America to the U.S. are poverty and crime in peoples' home countries. It was towards the end of my trip that I learned on social media about the killing of two boys, Carlos 10 and Oscar 11, after they were kidnapped while walking to school. Village residents had found the children stuffed in sacks, hands and feet tied throats slashed. The #Mayan community of San Juan Sacatepequez was overwhelmed with grief, anger and fear. Three days of mourning after their deaths, the boys' funeral procession of some 2,000 people wound through the village, reaching a memorial service held at the children's primary school. Pallbearers then brought the boys to the cemetery, where workmen bashed two fresh holes on the end of the family tomb to make space for the new arrivals. The village looked on, and that's when I captured this photo." - jbmoorephoto | February 14, 2017 | #GettyImagesNews #PhotographerTakeover _ Getty Images news photographer John Mo...
