Getty Images news photographer John Moore spent the last several weeks in
#Guatemala to photograph the causes behind
#immigration from Central America to the United States. He covered much more on his trip and is taking over gettyimages today for a closer look at his work there.

"I photographed in Guatemala's western highlands district of Quetzaltenango for several days and decided to spend a Sunday climbing up the sacred
#Mayan site of Cerro Quemado, or burnt hill. The hill was an active
#volcano for while the Mayans built their empire in the region. Although most of the people in the area are now Evangelical Christians, the site maintains its importance and hundreds of Indigenous people climb it every Sunday morning to pray. The nearby town, Almolonga, is known as the 'Vegetable Basket of the Americas.' Many locals attribute the town's fortunes to the rapid growth of the Evangelical faith in the area, while other credit the increased use of pesticides in farming." - jbmoorephoto |...
