Did you know? Hydration is key when riding long & hard, but most don’t know that everyone has their own unique sweat rate. Some sweat a cup an hour, some a half gallon! It's important to learn your sweat rate so you don't drink too little... or too much!
Before & after your next ride, step on a digital scale nude. Every 2lbs you lose is about a quart. Sports Medicine authorities recommend athletes stay in the Hydration Zone — Limit weight loss to 2% of body weight (e.g. 3lbs if you are 150lbs). If you have a low sweat rate, make a drinking plan to avoid gaining weight while riding, which is even more dangerous than dehydration.
