Planning a renovation? Exciting! Well…there are a couple really important things to consider before going for it.
First of all…don’t rush it! Making sure all your ducks are in a row could make or break the whole experience. This is really important.
Pre-planning is more important than you might think. Go over your plan and make sure your budget is in line with what you are trying to accomplish. Once you start opening walls and demolition, you can’t turn back. I often tell my clients to focus on the necessities and make sure you can complete that portion of the project. Once you’re comfortable with that, work towards the larger projects/rooms/spaces. Always give yourself a chance to stop at any point if the budget and scale is getting out of hand. This should be more fun than stressful.
Selecting the best general contractor is vital. I would recommend interviewing at least three and find out how they operate. Not just the quality of work, but how they run their business...
