Traveling to a body of water this holiday weekend? A quick google search will be able to tell you if toxic algae has been found in recent water samples. Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) is found in fresh and brackish water of ponds, lakes, fountains, as well as stagnant water. Pets that swim in or drink this water can become very ill quickly. Symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, seizures, collapse, blue or yellow gums, tremors, drooling, difficulty breathing, and paralysis. Seek veterinary attention immediately if your pet has ingested blue-green algae. Share with other dog parents and help keep those pups safe. #fuzzytips
