On this day in 1944, James Earl Rudder ’32 and the usarmy 2nd Ranger battalion began the dangerous and daring mission up the cliffs at Pointe Du Hoc as part the
#DDay invasion of Normandy.
The soldiers successfully scaled the 90-foot cliffs and went on to destroy six enemy cannons capable of reaching Allied ships as far as 14 miles away.
