#independence is a big deal in the disability community. Sam decided on her own to go get the mail. She has to cross a street and walk a little ways. Not something a parent would worry about with a typically developing 17 kid. It’s a different story at our house. We are definitely encouraging her doing more things on her own and trying to make sure she is safe. It’s a balancing act for sure.
