Earlier this year we added a paid Leadership Program with local leaders from historically underrepresented groups and supported by shimanogravel. Each has helped FoCo Fondo continue to evolve in their own way. We wanted to take some time to highlight how each leader has taken a unique approach to crush it for their community. First up: Para Athletes. Although we added a para category in 2022, we at Foco Fondo realized that we didn’t understand the nuances of the many categories for para athletes. This year, para leader samsam_summers consulted us to help us understand the different categories of para athletes, the variety of needs we could expect based on those categories, and how to best adjust our event on the road and at the venue to support the full range of athletes.
