It was SO much easier when I could wear her on the front lol I LOVED the front carrier but when my baby passed the 18 lb mark it started to really hurt my back to wear her on the front without anything to counter balance the weight. The structured backpack carriers are great but they are a bit big and bulky to travel internationally with so I opted to bring the soft carrier that can be worn on my back instead. It’s super comfortable and she loves being in it but it can be pretty awkward to put on by myself. After some trial and error, I found this to be the easiest way to get her into the carrier in the right position. Obviously, a bed is a good height for this but it also works just as well with the trunk of a car or any wider couch/bench. Since I walked everywhere on this trip (and it was not a stroller-friendly town), I got creative and found that most of the restaurants/coffee shops had something I could use.
