Investors of The Walt Disney Company will likely be excited to hear the news that a new CEO has been named after a disappointing two-year performance of the stock since Bob Chapek took over. Investors will likely recognize the new leader's name and his past performance. Follow benzinga
Disney announced Sunday that Chapek was stepping down, and former Disney CEO Bob Iger is taking over as his replacement.
Iger came to Disney after the media company acquired ABC. He held the roles of President of Walt Disney International and Chief Operating Officer of Disney before being named the company’s CEO.
Many were surprised when Iger announced two years ago that he would be stepping down as CEO, and would be replaced by Chapek. Iger previously planned to stay on as Chairman and help provide guidance to Chapek. The two would eventually have a falling out, and Iger left his role as Chairman on December 31, 2021. benzinga
