Brenden Aaronson spent this season on loan at Union Berlin from Leeds United, and had a tough time there for the most part— so much so that he was initially left off from the March roster of the USMNT.
He ended up replacing injured Luca De La Torre in the roster and the USMNT won the Nations League again, and that seems to have sparked something in him.
Since that international break, Aaronson started seven out of eight games for Union Berlin, and played a huge part in their relegation survival.
In the last game of the season, Union Berlin needed a win to be safe from relegation, and Aaronson started as false nine.
He assisted their first goal and they ended up winning the game 2-1 with a very late goal, escaping relegation in dramatic scenes.
The club however officially announced that his time in Union Berlin is over, and the 23-year-old will be returning to Leeds.
