Today, we’re excited to share our conversation with costume designer Jenny Beavan (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, CRUELLA, A ROOM WITH A VIEW) on the newest episode of the Team Deakins Podcast. We consider how, just as with real people, characters reuse clothing and how some costume pieces take on a life of their own. While discussing art finishing, a process of distressing costumes to fit an intended period or reality, Jenny reflects on cleaning Anthony Hopkins’ single white shirt during production of THE REMAINS OF THE DAY and his miraculous luck in avoiding spilling red wine on it. Jenny later describes how she adapts on a project after having the wool pulled over her eyes, and, at the end, Jenny offers advice to future costume designers.
We hope you enjoy the episode!
