Next Wednesday, acclaimed costume designer Jenny Beavan (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, CRUELLA, A ROOM WITH A VIEW) joins us on the Team Deakins Podcast. Hailing from England, Jenny starts by telling us how she grew to love the theater in her youth and how it nurtured her interest in storytelling. She later fell in with the famed Merchant Ivory troupe, and she describes spending her early formative professional years traveling around the world and working alongside the legendary filmmakers. Having been typecast as a period costume designer as a result of her work with them, she thanks director George Miller (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD) for giving her the opportunity to smash that notion and explains how designing costumes has never been about the clothes themselves but the stories they tell.
It was a pleasure reconnecting with Jenny, so please listen in next week!
