Boys Like Girls, Slam Dunk Festival 2024 REVIEW: You can plant your heels into the past and pretend to be a version of yourself from 2005 again. Or you can do what Boys Like Girls do, and project those good times through the total badass attitude you embody in the here and now. Coming out onto the main stage like Mötley Crüe in their prime before darting into a shimmering ‘Love Drunk’, they set out to honour their past without letting it define them. That’s evident on the electric display they put on during fresh cuts ‘BLOOD AND SUGAR’ and ‘MIRACLE’ whilst still injecting the gooey balladry of ‘Thunder’ and bright-eyed optimism of ‘Five Minutes To Midnight’ with the sort of fun and furiousness that can only come from totally loving what you do. As the eternal ‘The Great Escape’ rides into view, you would be hard-pressed to find a band living the dream more than this.
