💡 KEEPING THE LIGHT! 💡 The St. Augustine Lighthouse was completed in 1874 ... the first lighthouse was crumbling and would soon fall into the ocean (in 1880). The first lighthouse was built in 1737 and became an official lighthouse in 1824. A wooden watchtower was on site previously. The current tower continues to function as an active aid to navigation and the light comes on every night — with the original 1874 first order Fresnel lens! 💡 Hours are 9 AM-6 PM seven days a week.
