Roland Stonaker, or as we know him, “Stoney,” has volunteered with the Museum’s Heritage Boatworks program for 12 years. To date, he has volunteered 2,131 service hours. Stoney first learned about Heritage Boatworks from an event at St. Francis Field when the Museum sought volunteers to build a Chalupa (boat). Some time passed, Stoney visited the grounds, and volunteer Jim Gaskins convinced Stoney to join and brought him aboard.
Stoney and his wife, Joanna, have been married for 35 years and are natives of New Jersey. They moved to Florida in 2000 when their daughter attended Flagler College. Stoney was a Navy Pilot for several years and served in the Vietnam War. He then made a career transition and was a National Sales Manager for Architectural Aluminum for 30 years and a consultant for 10 years. Stoney also volunteers for the election office, enjoys golf, fishing, kayaking, and has been sailing since he was eight-years-old.
