We’re continuing to share stories from our patients in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day (June 2). Join us in thanking lung cancer survivor Marchelle H. for sharing her story below. To see more of her journey and learn about cancer care at MedStar Health, please visit the link in our bio.
“When I noticed I was short of breath after a short walk, I knew something wasn’t right. I had also been having regular lung cancer screenings because I was a smoker. Unfortunately, new imaging performed at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital revealed a small nodule on my lung. Then, additional imaging showed another small nodule. Six months later, that nodule had grown, and an eight-hour surgery was required.
“Today, I am back to work, and I quit smoking. I’m so glad this was caught when it was, and I was fortunate to receive outstanding care. I am truly grateful.”
