May 25, 2014 // I’ve been using the quarantine mornings to sort through and organize my iPhone media. It feels like time traveling while trapped. It is also a lesson in gratefulness. As my own personal quarantine project- I’ve decided to share these stories from the backlog- starting with this nonsense.
On this day- christopher.rinehart told me to opt out of the group car ride and we’d take the back roads to Gainesville on “the Harley” to meet everyone for a kayaking day on the springs. It will be beautiful he said. You’ll love it he said. The Harley turned out to be a Buell that we realized turned off - while driving it - if he went over 45 mph. He gave me the real helmet like a gentleman and he wore the turtle shell with the open face. He regretted this decision when a locust smacked into his face at the top 45 mph speed giving him an immediate black eye.
We arrived 3 hours late and looked like we’d just survived- not won- Jumanji.
My sunburn lasted a week and the bike melted one ...
