Produce fruit in keeping with repentance — Matthew 3:8
Too often the world sees peace as an absence of conflict, violence, conflict, or anxiety. While these are noble hopes for the world, peace is much more than an absence of strife, but rather a presence of justice.
To be clear, this justice built on peace is not a naive pollyanna belief that, if one does not see or participate in conflict then all is fine, but it is a peace that exudes trust in the movement of the Holy Spirit in the midst of the conflict itself.
We all know how to put on a brave face and, from the outside, look as if all is well, but true peace understands that until we seek and know peace at the depths of our soul, we will just be avoiding — even exacerbating the strife that surrounds us.
So know peace, show peace, but most importantly, woven in the cells of your body, BE peace for yourself and for the world.
