Industrial animal agriculture is the largest driver of deforestation globally and a new investigation by the guardian has unearthed some disturbing new evidence of that. Production of animal-based foods is responsible for more than 90% of Amazon deforestation, with a small percentage from all other causes - urbanization, mining, and other extractive industries. Globally, the weight of humans and mammal livestock is 98.15% of all terrestrial mammals, with all the other over 6,500 species, from squirrels to gorillas to elephants, weighing only 1.85%. 🤯 Our planet is truly a pasture and feedlot for producing burgers and other animal products.
