A lion watches over his territory in #Kenya. Thursday is #WorldLionDay. Less than a century ago, there were more than 200,000 lions in Africa. Today, there are only about 20,000 left. In the last two decades alone, lion populations have dropped by more than 40%. The unrestricted exploitation of wildlife has led to the disappearance of many animal species, threatening Earth's biological diversity and upsetting the ecological balance. Here are some actions you can take to help protect big cats: 🦁 Get informed about the status of wildlife and wildlife products. 🦁 Support companies that demonstrate sustainable supply chains and environmentally responsible policies. 🦁 Spread the word and encourage others to get better informed. šŸ“ø: UN Photo
