On June 19, 1865, U.S. BG Gordon Granger and his troops landed at Galveston, Texas confirming the news that the Civil War had ended and that enslaved African-Americans were now free. MMI recognizes #EmancipationDay in a nation founded on the core value that "All men are created equal." MMI offices are closed on Wed. June 19 in observance of #Juneteenth.
