During the intense heatwaves in the Pacific Northwest, most of the beloved pacific oysters did not survive and could not be harvested. Oysters are an invaluable part of our marine ecosystems, and harvesting them to eat actually encourages sustainable growth of more oysters. 🌱
We are of course saddened that we cannot share one of our favorite dishes with you. But on a much deeper level, we are angered at the extreme effects of climate emergency on both our environment here in the PNW as in the Philippines. 🇵🇭
Local seafood is such an important part of our cultures on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. As temperatures rise, and our beautiful natural resources die, we risk losing our cultural connections to food and land even more. 🌊
