For a second there, the sea of Albiceleste fans at MBS got worried Canada would shock them like Saudi Arabia. A brilliant Messi had his classic moments of magic, but he lacked in front of goal just like everyone in Argentina. A missed opportunity to mark his 35th Copa appearance — the most of all time — with a goal. Still, Julian and Lautaro got the job done. Shook off the Red Scare with a couple of tidy finishes and snatched the three points. There’s a lot to be said about Jesse Marsch and his Canadian pupils, though. They could shake up Group A if they figure it out up front. Seems like it’ll be a tighter tournament than any of us could’ve imagined.
